Not a day goes by that we don’t fully appreciate the women and men behind the wheel of their trucks everywhere. But we’ve got to give an extra special shout-out during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week! According to American Trucking Associations, there are more than three million truck drivers here in the US working hard each day to ensure that you and I have the goods we need, when we need them most.
It goes without saying that these last couple of years have brought to light the absolute essential nature of the trucking industry. Truck drivers diligently worked together to provide solutions that allowed food to remain on shelves as much as possible, fuel to continue being delivered to local gas stations, and of course—medical supplies were being shipped at record speed to healthcare professionals. And to top it all off, the infamous toilet paper shortage that had people across the country in an absolute frenzy over how to get their next roll delivered. (Let’s stop right here to say thank you once again!)
Long before the pandemic, trucking has made a huge contribution to the way America has grown and continues to thrive—both on a business level, and a personal one. It was about 100 years ago that the industry really took off, and though it looks much different today, trucking continues to be what 80% of communities fully rely on to receive their goods and commodities. That meal you just cooked with your family? Thank a truck driver. Just filled up your gas tank? Thank a truck driver. Restocked the printer paper at the office? Thank a truck driver. The list is really endless.
Aside from saying “thank you,” which really does go a long way, there are other simple ways you can appreciate truckers this week:
From all of us at Sureway Transportation and our families, we truly appreciate each and every truck driving professional out there. Thanks for all you continue to do!
